Hypnotherapy and depression

The good news is that depression is treatable and that you can start feeling much better in a relatively short space of time.

The most logical way of treating depression is to assist your body back to its natural state of equilibrium by working on the problem holistically.

Mentally and emotionally, this involves creating positive thoughts, beliefs and attitudes about yourself and your life, and also resolving any traumatic events from the past. Physically, this would involve ensuring you have a healthy, balanced diet, rich in essential oils and low in stimulants like coffee, alcohol or cigarettes. Also that you are taking regular exercise of a kind that you enjoy.

Hypnotherapy has an important role to play in the holistic treatment of depression. Because hypnosis engages the unconscious part of your mind in a highly creative way, you are able to make positive changes much more rapidly than with other talking therapies. Hypnotherapy also helps you become more aware of 'stuck' feelings and attitudes that are contributing to the problem and in turn helps you release the negative charge of those thoughts and feelings. The result is that you can feel more resolved about the past, more empowered in the present and more optimistic about the future. As a guide I usually find depression is successfully treated over a period of three to six sessions.
