Hypnotherapy for Fear of Flying
Treat your fear of flying with hypnotherapy.
It is thought that as many as 1 in 5 people experience a fear of flying or experience an uncomfortable level of anxiety around flying. Very often these fears and anxieties affect people who have been comfortable with flying in the past.
There are several key elements to a fear of flying and this page outlines what these are, and how they are treated with hypnosis and hypnotherapy.
The 3 elements of a fear of flying
In my experience, what people label as a fear of flying is actually a cocktail of other anxieties (the actual experience of flying being quite a pleasant sensation). First, there is a fear of being out of control, second, a fear of being in an enclosed space, and third, a fear of having a panic attack.
The fear of having no control
Even though commercial air travel is much safer than driving on a motorway, many people feel anxious over having no actual control of the flight. Having no control however, is not the problem. It is how we think and feel about it that becomes problematic. For example, one person may see flying as an ideal opportunity to sit back and relax, safe in the knowledge that other people are doing all the work. Another person will feel an acute sense of threat. The aim of hypnosis and hypnotherapy is to help you release the roots of these problematic thoughts, beliefs and distortions and to help you create a much more relaxing and enjoyable flying experience. In essence hypnotherapy helps you see things in their true perspective.
